Job summary

Macquarie Government in Canberra is seeking an Account Director to lead strategic government relationships and drive commercial outcomes across senior federal stakeholders. You will shape engagements, grow multi-agency accounts, and influence win strategies in a blended Canberra-based role.

You will manage high-level government accounts, guide renewals and negotiations for new solutions, and partner with the Head of Federal Government to deliver outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing federal government accounts and sales.
  • Eligibility for government security clearance (current or former).
  • Background in ICT and/or security services helpful.
  • Strong commercial acumen with data-driven insights.
  • Advanced negotiation and contract support experience.
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across multiple levels.
  • Proven ability to write bids and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic government accounts, strengthen multi-level engagement, drive retention and renewals.
  • Grow accounts by identifying opportunities and shaping go-to-market responses.
  • Shape sales strategy with leadership to improve win rates and revenue outcomes.
  • Provide commercial support through renewals and contract negotiations.
  • Build and nurture relationships within government agencies and partner ecosystems.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead a strategic accounts: strengthen multi-level engagement, uplift solution design, and drive retention and renewal outcomes.
  • Grow accounts: identify new opportunities, shape go-to-market responses, and position our capability with senior stakeholders.
  • Shape sales strategy : work closely with the Head of Federal Government and leadership team to develop tools, forecasts, and strategy that improve win rates and revenue outcomes.
  • Provide commercial support: guide the team through renewals and negotiations for new solutions.
  • Build and nurture relationships within the agency and partner ecosystem including with key stakeholders
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong Federal Government account management and sales experience.
  • Hold a Government security clearance (or previously held)
  • A background in ICT and/or security services (and an understanding of technology).
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to turn data into insight.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and experience supporting contract negotiations.
  • Strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution capability.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong experience in Bid writing
