Job summary

The Dock & Wharf Events Mooloolaba, part of Kickon Group, is seeking an experienced Assistant Venue Manager to lead the floor and the team, blending operations with people & culture to build a high‑performing crew.

Reporting to the Venue Manager, you will own recruitment, onboarding, training and culture while maintaining a guest‑first operation and coordinating with Kickon Academy. This is a chance to shape one of Mooloolaba's newest venues.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality leadership roles (Assistant Manager, Snr Duty Manager or similar).
• Strong coaching, training and people development focus.
• Valid RMLV and Managers Approved License.
• Experience with rostering, wage % and stock control.
• Hands-on, guest-first leadership from the floor.

Responsibilities

• Run efficient day-to-day shifts with rosters and floor leadership.
• Own venue presentation and ambience to uphold high standards.
• Lead service from the front to set guest-first tone.
• Handle guest feedback and complaints with the Venue Manager.
• Ensure WHS, RSA and house policy compliance.
• Own recruitment, onboarding and induction at The Dock & Wharf.
• Drive training and development through Kickon Academy.
• Identify and develop emerging leaders.
• Foster engaged culture via surveys and feedback loops.
• Support day-to-day employee relations with Group People & Culture Manager.

About the role

Reporting to the Venue Manager, you'll split your time between leading the floor and leading the people behind it. This is a rare blend role (half operations, half People & Culture) built for a leader who wants real ownership over how a team is trained, developed and looked after, not just how a shift runs. You'll work side-by-side with the Venue Manager to run a tight, guest-first operation, while owning recruitment, onboarding, training and culture for The Dock & Wharf's team. You'll have the support of Kickon Group's Group People & Culture Manager and the wider Kickon Academy training platform behind you.

Key responsibilities

Run efficient day-to-day shifts, including rosters, opening and closing, and floor leadership through peak trade.

Own venue presentation and ambience, and make sure standards never slip.

Lead from the front during service, setting the tone for guest-forward hospitality.

Handle guest feedback and complaints alongside the Venue Manager.

Keep the venue compliant - WHS, RSA, and house policy, always.

Own recruitment, onboarding and induction for new starters at The Dock & Wharf.

Drive training and development through Kickon Academy and external training partners.

Spot emerging leaders in the team and actively develop them.

Champion team engagement - surveys, feedback loops, and a culture people want to be part of.

Handle day-to-day employee relations with the backing of the Group People & Culture Manager.

About you

Hospitality leadership experience - Assistant Manager, Snr Duty Manager or similar, ideally in a high-volume venue.

A genuine passion for coaching, training and growing people, not just managing a roster.

Valid RMLV and Managers Approved License.

Confidence with rosters, wage % and stock control.

A hands-on, guest-first attitude, you lead from the floor, not the office.
