Haymes Paint is seeking an Assistant Store Manager (2IC) to join our Coolum team. You will support the Store Manager in day-to-day operations while developing the team, driving sales, and managing key accounts across market segments.

This role blends retail leadership, customer management and technical product advice in a hands-on environment, including coaching, stock control, and POS responsibilities.

• Identify opportunities to grow sales and strengthen existing customer partnerships.
• Provide exceptional customer service, technical product advice and solution-based recommendations.
• Assist customers with colour selection, paint tinting and colour matching requirements.
• Act as an escalation point for customer enquiries and service issues.
• Maintain store presentation, merchandising and housekeeping standards.
• Manage inventory control activities, including goods receipting, stock replenishment and stocktakes.
• Process POS and end-of-day transactions.
• Support the growth of trade, industrial and retail business opportunities.

Haymes Paint is seeking an Assistant Store Manager (2IC) to join our Coolum team. In this role, you will work closely with the Store Manager to support the day-to-day running of the store while playing a key role in developing team capability, driving sales performance and managing important customer accounts across multiple market segments.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining retail leadership, customer management, business development and technical product advice in a hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in leading, coaching and developing a small team.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving sales and operational objectives.
• Build, manage and grow relationships with key account customers across Render, Automotive, Akzo Nobel, Spray and Mini DC segments.
• Identify opportunities to grow sales and strengthen existing customer partnerships.
• Provide exceptional customer service, technical product advice and solution-based recommendations.
• Assist customers with colour selection, paint tinting and colour matching requirements.
• Act as an escalation point for customer enquiries and service issues.
• Maintain store presentation, merchandising and housekeeping standards.
• Manage inventory control activities, including goods receipting, stock replenishment and stocktakes.
• Process Point of Sale (POS) and end‑of‑day transactions.
• Support the growth of trade, industrial and retail business opportunities.
• Promote and lead a safety‑first culture within the store.

About you:

• Previous experience in retail, trade sales, account management or customer service.
• Experience leading, coaching or mentoring team members, or a genuine desire to step into a leadership role.
• Strong relationship‑building and customer management skills.
• A passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.
• Confidence identifying and pursuing sales growth opportunities.
• Point of Sale (POS) system experience or strong computer skills.
• Effective planning, organisation and time management skills.
• The resilience to manage competing priorities and a fast‑paced environment.
• The confidence to follow established processes while also identifying opportunities for improvement.

Requirements:

• Current valid driver’s license
• Australian Working Rights
• Current First Aid Certificate is desirable

This position works a rotating roster across our 6-day a week trade (Monday - Saturday).
