Job summary

Haymes Paint in Ballarat is seeking a motivated full-time Stores Sales Assistant to join our team. The role blends customer service, sales, and operations, with opportunities to grow expertise in colour and paint solutions.

Key responsibilities include helping trade and retail customers, tinting and colour matching, stock control, taking orders, and supporting store presentation. A driver’s licence is preferred and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a customer service role is required.
• Willingness to learn and grow with Haymes Paint.
• Must have a driver’s licence for local deliveries.
• Experience with stock handling and merchandising is desirable.
• Confident with manual tasks (up to 22 kg) and POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide service, advice and product solutions to trade and retail customers.
• Handle paint questions, tinting, and colour matching to customer requirements.
• Inventory control: stock receiving, stocktaking and replenishment.
• Take orders in-store and by phone.
• Build relationships with repeat customers and collaborate with colleagues.
• Assist with visual merchandising, store displays, and housekeeping.
• Comply with safe work practices.

Due to an exciting opportunity within our Ballarat store, Haymes Paint is looking for a motivated Full-Time Stores Sales Assistant to join our growing team.

This diverse role offers a unique blend of customer service, sales, and operational responsibilities, while providing the opportunity to develop expertise in colour, design, and paint solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide service, advice and product solutions to both trade and retail customers
• Handle all paint related questions for all customers, including tinting paint products and colour matching to customer requirements.
• Inventory control (goods receiving/stocktaking), stock replenishment
• Take orders in-store and by phone
• Build strong relationships with repeat customers in store and fellow colleagues
• Assist with visual displays, store presentation and general house-keeping
• Comply with safe work practices

About you:

• Previous experience working in a customer service role
• A willingness to learn, grow and develop with Haymes Paint
• A driver's licence to make local deliveries
• Experience with stock handling and merchandising
• Confidence to perform manual tasks (Lifting up to 22Kg)
• Point of Sales (POS) system knowledge or appropriate tech-savvy
• Previous painting industry experience is highly regarded but not essential
