Job summary

Fire & Rescue NSW seeks an Assistant Commissioner Education and Training to set strategic direction and lead design, development and delivery of Education and Training for uniformed and non-uniformed staff. You will drive capacity to maintain RTO status and ensure national curriculum compliance, providing expert training and advice to frontline operations.

The role requires extensive leadership experience in education & training and post-graduate qualifications, with emergency management

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of adult education trends in the national arena.
• Experience in curriculum management for vocational education in emergency services.
• Post graduate qualification or significant professional experience in the discipline.
• Emergency management qualifications to meet legislative requirements of the role.

About the role:

The Assistant Commissioner sets the strategic direction of and leads the design, development and delivery of Education and Training functions for uniformed (PFF & RetFF) and non-uniformed staff within Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW). The role is accountable for driving organisational capacity to maintain RTO Status and complying with national curriculum requirements and education accreditation. The Assistant Commissioner must ensure the provision of superior expert training and advice to support front-line firefighting operations

About you:

You are an experienced leader with a proven record of achievement in education & training.

You will bring:

• Extensive knowledge of contemporary trends, issues and challenges in adult education and training in the national arena with experience in developing high quality training solutions and approaches
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum management along with a detailed understanding of how curriculum applies to vocational education and training within emergency service organisations
• Post graduate tertiary qualification in and/or significant professional experience in the discipline.
• Emergency management qualifications to enable fulfilment of legislative requirements of role
