Job summary

NSW Rural Fire Service is seeking an Operational Officer Level 3 and 2IC to join the Southern Tablelands District, supporting the District Manager and team to strengthen preparedness and resilience across Yass, Goulburn and Crookwell.

You will lead operations, coordinate daily team activities and provide strong leadership in field operations, risk management and incident coordination, with a focus on community safety and service to volunteers.

Qualifications

• RFS Group Leader qualification or the equivalent National Units of Competency (PUAOPE016 and PUAOPE023).
• Diploma in a relevant discipline (Emergency Management, Project Management, Leadership) or equivalent expertise.
• Level 2 Principal IMT qualification in Planning, Operations or Logistics.
• A current Driver Licence and willingness to travel.
• Operational Officer Medical Assessment confirming health/fitness (external candidates).

Attractive annual salary $118,562- $131,233p.a. plus 12% superannuation

Location: Position will be based within the Southern Tablelands District. The specific work location will be determined in consultation with the successful applicant.

What you’ll be doing:

To thrive in this role, you will have:

• Strong Operational leadership experience
• Confidence resolving conflict and complex matters
• Volunteer and/or emergency services experience and an understanding of risk management principles and safety systems
• An understanding and interest in fire mitigation and field operational experience
• The ability to lead teams and support incident coordination
• The desire and ability to learn new skills and qualifications
• Demonstrated commitment to understanding and delivering community safety information
• An understanding of agency statutory functions and an ability to monitor compliance of these functions
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to our communities and highly valued volunteer members

To be considered for these opportunities, you will need to provide evidence of:

• RFS Group Leader qualification or the equivalent National Units of Competency (PUAOPE016 and PUAOPE023)
• Diploma in a relevant discipline (i.e. Emergency Management, Project Management, Leadership) or equivalent expertise
• Level 2 Principal IMT qualification in Planning, Operations or Logistics
• A current Driver Licence and the willingness and ability to travel
• Completion of an Operational Officer Medical Assessment certifying the required level of general health and fitness (external candidates)
