Job summary

Fire & Rescue NSW is offering a Work Health and Safety Trainee position in Greenacre with a structured traineeship to gain practical WHS knowledge. The role supports Fleet Management operations and administrative tasks while you complete formal training, including the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

The programme targets Year 12 graduates and provides a clear path to professional certification, with rotating work locations as required.

• Foundational written, verbal and digital communication skills are required.
• Ability to follow procedures, maintain accurate records and escalate matters appropriately.
• Ability to use common workplace technology and develop this capability through training.
• Ability to organize assigned work and respond to routine requests within agreed timeframes.

Job description

• Temporary Full Time (2 years - attainment of Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety)
• Grade - Trainee
• Remuneration package - from $522.30 per week for Year 12 School Leavers, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
• Location: Greenacre; however the role holders must be willing to rotate through various FRNSW work locations, as required
• Role will commence in November 2026

About the role:

The Work Health and Safety Trainee participates in a structured traineeship program to develop practical work health and safety knowledge, skills and experience through formal training and supervised workplace learning while supporting routine administrative and operational activities within Fleet Management.

About you:

• Foundational written, verbal and digital communication skills, with the capacity to develop these through structured training and supervised workplace experience.
• Ability to follow procedures, maintain accurate records and escalat[e] matters appropriately.
• Ability to use common workplace technology, or to develop this capability through training and support.
• Ability to organise assigned work and respond to routine requests within agreed timeframes, with support and supervision.
• Completed Year 12 or hold the Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
• Must comply with the responsibilities relating to the Trainee Training Contract between FRNSW, NSW State Training, the RTO, the Apprenticeship Centre and the individual. This includes the responsibility of completing
  structured training, working full-time and the attainment of Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
• Main office location is 1 Amarina Place Greenacre, NSW, 2190 in which will be the main working location. (Monday to Friday)
