Job summary

Mission Australia Housing is seeking an Asset Officer in Kingswood, NSW. You will coordinate maintenance requests, inspect properties, and liaise with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver safe, quality housing and compliant outcomes.

You will monitor works, manage documentation, and support efficient property turnover while helping vulnerable people access stable homes and positive community outcomes.

Responsibilities

Your opportunity

As an Asset Officer with Mission Australia Housing, you will play a key role in ensuring social and affordable housing properties are safe, well maintained, and meet the needs of tenants. Working closely with residents, contractors, and internal housing teams, you'll coordinate maintenance requests, prioritise repairs, conduct property inspections, monitor contractor performance, and ensure works are completed to a high standard and in line with compliance requirements. This is a varied role that combines customer service, maintenance coordination, administration, and site-based inspections, making it ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable people through quality housing outcomes.

• Coordinate and prioritise tenant maintenance requests, ensuring repairs are actioned efficiently and in line with service standards.
• Act as the key liaison between tenants, contractors, and internal teams, providing professional and responsive customer service.
• Monitor and manage maintenance work orders from commencement through to completion, ensuring quality outcomes and timely delivery.
• Conduct property inspections and assess completed works to identify defects, compliance issues, and required remedial actions.
• Scope maintenance and property improvement works, ensuring accurate documentation and asset records are maintained.
• Review contractor invoices, certifications, and documentation to ensure compliance, accuracy, and value for money.
• Track vacant properties and maintenance schedules to support efficient property turnaround times and portfolio performance.
• Build strong relationships with tenants, contractors, and stakeholders while supporting positive housing outcomes and community engagement initiatives.

Requirements

• Experience in property maintenance, facilities, housing, asset management, or a similar coordination role.
• Ability to identify, assess, and prioritise maintenance issues to ensure timely and effective resolution.
• Sound understanding of maintenance processes, building works, and contractor management.
• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage tenants respectfully, empathetically, and professionally.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence working across diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality outcomes.
• Experience working with vulnerable communities, social or affordable housing, or community services will be highly regarded.
• Highly Desirable: Trade qualification or relevant property/building industry experience.
• Experience within social housing, community housing, or tenancy-related services.
• Current driver's licence and ability to travel between properties as required.
• Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
