Job summary

WorkPac Group in Australia is seeking a Mobile Plant Operator to join our construction materials operations. The role involves operating mobile plant from the cab, performing routine inspections, and supporting crews on site.

You will work as part of a larger team across projects, with duties ranging from manual tasks to ensuring safety and efficiency in challenging environments. A valid license and construction card are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License required.
• White Construction Card required.
• Experience with labouring duties on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile plant from the cab during shifts.
• Assist labourers with manual tasks such as sweeping, raking and shovelling asphalt as needed.
• Lifting and carrying tasks up to 25kg and adapt to varying site conditions.

Job description

What you will be doing:

Majority of the workday is completed within the cabin of the vehicle. Duties involve a range of hand functions, forward reaching, steering, foot pedal operations and head next and upper body turning positions for observations. In addition to the mobile plant operation, operators are also required to assist the labourers with manual tasks such as sweeping, raking and shovelling asphalt.

Manual work is dependent on the nature of the project and skill mix on the crew and typically constitutes 5-10% of a workday. It can be as much as 60-70% of the workday if the crew is rich with plant operators. Mobile plant operators are exposed to whole body vibration and noise from machinery operation. They are also classified as working at height (up to 4 metres.)

They are exposed to radiant heat and odours from the hot asphalt and need to have capacity to wear respiratory protection if required.
