Workfast are currently seeking experienced Plant Operators to join a busy roads and asphalt crew in Cairns. You will operate mobile plant and assist with general labouring tasks as part of a safety-focused team.

This hands-on role offers ongoing work with opportunities to develop skills across paving and plant operations, with competitive hourly rates and penalties/overtime available. Applicants should have a valid driver's licence and experience in roads or civil construction.

Competenze

• Experience operating mobile plant.
• Experience in roads, civil or asphalt environments.
• Current Driver's Licence – essential.
• Relevant plant tickets/VOCs highly regarded.

• Safely operate mobile plant and paving equipment
• Complete daily pre-starts and equipment checks
• Follow correct start-up and shutdown procedures
• Assist with asphalt paving operations
• Monitor paving levels, depth, shape and surface finish
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks and materials

Workfast are currently seeking experienced Plant Operators to join a busy roads and asphalt crew in Cairns.

This is a great opportunity for experienced operators with a background in asphalt, road construction, civil construction or mobile plant operation to secure ongoing work with the potential to develop skills across a range of paving and plant operations.

About the Role

You will work as part of an experienced asphalt paving crew, supporting the safe and efficient completion of daily road and paving projects across the Cairns region.

Depending on your experience, you may be operating:

• Multi-tyre rollers
• Steel rollers
• Skid steers / Bobcats
• Profiling equipment
• Sweeping attachments
• Other mobile plant and paving equipment

This is a hands-on role, with all crew members expected to assist with general labouring tasks such as raking, sweeping and shovelling asphalt when required.

As you gain experience, there is the opportunity to become multi-skilled across different paving and plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

About You

We are looking for reliable, safety-focused operators who have experience in roads, civil construction, asphalt or paving.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience operating mobile plant
• Experience in roads, civil or asphalt environments
• Current Driver's Licence - essential
• Relevant plant tickets/VOCs highly regarded
• Ability to complete manual labouring tasks when required
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable transport and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work outdoors around hot asphalt, machinery, noise and varying weather conditions
• Willingness to undertake additional training and competency assessments

Physical Requirements

This role involves a combination of plant operation and manual labour.

• Operating mobile plant for extended periods
• Sitting and operating equipment for extended periods
• Climbing in and out of machinery
• Manual handling and lifting up to approximately 25kg
• Raking, sweeping and shovelling asphalt
• Working around hot asphalt, noise and machinery
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
