WorkPac Group is seeking a mobile plant operator to work on asphalt and paving projects in Rockhampton. The role involves operating plant equipment, supporting labourers with manual tasks, and maintaining safety and site cleanliness.
Candidates should have a drivers license, labouring experience, and the White Construction Card. Vocational competencies for paving operations are required. Competitive pay rates apply and benefits through WorkPac.

Majority of the workday is completed within the cabin of the vehicle. Duties involve a range of hand functions, forward reaching, steering, foot pedal operations and head next and upper body turning positions for observations. In addition to the mobile plant operation, operators are also required to assist the labourers with manual tasks such as sweeping, raking and shovelling asphalt.
Manual work is dependent on the nature of the project and skill mix on the crew and typically constitutes 5-10% of a workday. It can be as much as 60-70% of the workday if the crew is rich with plant operators. Mobile plant operators are exposed to whole body vibration and noise from machinery operation. They are also classified as working at height (up to 4 metres.)
They are exposed to radiant heat and odours from the hot asphalt and need to have capacity to wear respiratory protection if required.
