MST Constructions Pty Ltd is offering a structured apprenticeship opportunity in painting and decorating at their Townsville site. You will learn on-the-job with experienced painters and complete formal apprenticeship qualifications.

No prior painting experience is required; enthusiasm to learn and work safely is valued. Wages are aligned with apprenticeship award rates, with potential progression to permanent employment after successful completion.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls, ceilings and timber.
• Apply paint, stains and protective coatings with brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Mix paint colours to match project specifications and maintain consistency.
• Use hand tools and equipment safely including ladders, scaffolding and access equipment.
• Protect surrounding areas from splatter and damage during painting work.
• Follow health and safety protocols and keep the site clean and organised.
• Read and interpret building plans, specs and drawings.
• Collaborate with senior painters, construction teams and site supervisors.
• Assist with maintenance and care of painting equipment and tools.
• Complete on-the-job training while undertaking apprenticeship coursework.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls, ceilings, timber and other materials
• Applying paint, stains and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
• Mixing paint colours and ensuring consistency with project specifications
• Using hand tools and equipment safely and effectively, including ladders, scaffolding and access equipment
• Protecting surrounding areas and structures from paint splatter and damage during application
• Following health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised work site
• Learning to read and interpret building plans, specifications and technical drawings
• Working collaboratively with senior painters, construction teams and site supervisors
• Assisting with the maintenance and care of painting equipment and tools
• Completing on-the-job training whilst undertaking structured apprenticeship coursework

• A current or valid driver's license is preferred
