Qualifications

• Must be genuinely interested in undertaking a Painting Apprenticeship.
• White Card or ability to obtain one promptly.
• Physical fitness for manual labour and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out measurements and basic calculations.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Set up trestle and plank systems and maintain them.
• Handle painting and decorating materials and tools.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and apply paint with brushes and rollers.
• Apply textured finishes by brush, roller, and spray.
• Assist with removing and replacing doors, windows and components.
• Work as part of a team with guidance from qualified painters.
• Demonstrate reliability, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Job description

We are recruiting Painting Apprentices on behalf of our members to join their growing teams. If you have an eye for detail and enjoy work that delivers visible results, this is a great opportunity to build a rewarding career in the painting and decorating industry. Working alongside qualified and skilled painters, you will gain valuable hands‑on experience, mentoring, and ongoing support throughout your apprenticeship.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Painting Apprentice, your duties will include:

• Carrying out measurements and basic calculations
• Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
• Erecting and maintaining trestle and plank systems
• Handling painting and decorating materials
• Using painting and decorating tools and equipment
• Removing and replacing doors, windows, and components
• Preparing surfaces for painting
• Applying paint using brushes and rollers
• Applying textured coating finishes by brush, roller, and spray

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have:

• A genuine interest in undertaking a Painting Apprenticeship
• A White Card, or the ability to obtain one as soon as possible
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour
• A willingness to learn and work as part of a team
• A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
• The ability to follow instructions and take direction
• Trustworthiness and motivation

Preferred (but not essential)

• A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
• Previous painting or construction‑related work experience
