Job summary

Aussie Painters Network is seeking Painting Apprentices to join our members' growing teams in Australia. You will learn hands-on painting skills under the guidance of qualified painters and receive mentoring and ongoing support throughout your apprenticeship.

As an apprentice, you will perform measurements, interpret plans, prepare surfaces, apply paint, and work on a variety of residential and commercial projects with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Genuine interest in undertaking a Painting Apprenticeship.
  • White Card or ability to obtain one ASAP.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour.
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out measurements and basic calculations.
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Erecting and maintaining trestle and plank systems.
  • Handling painting and decorating materials.
  • Using painting and decorating tools and equipment.
  • Removing and replacing doors, windows and components.
  • Preparing surfaces for painting.
  • Applying paint using brushes and rollers.
  • Applying textured coating finishes by brush, roller, and spray.

About the Role

As a Painting Apprentice, your duties will include:

  • Carrying out measurements and basic calculations
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Erecting and maintaining trestle and plank systems
  • Handling painting and decorating materials
  • Using painting and decorating tools and equipment
  • Removing and replacing doors, windows, and components

Requirements
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A genuine interest in undertaking aPainting Apprenticeship
  • A White Card, or the ability to obtain one ASAP
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour
  • A willingness to learn and work as part of a team
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
  • The ability to follow instructions and take direction
  • Trustworthiness and motivation
Preferred (but not essential):
  • A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
  • Previous painting or construction‑related work experience an advantage
  • Paid apprenticeship withon-the-job training
  • Ongoing mentoring from experienced, qualified painters
  • Nationally recognised qualification upon completion

To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship, you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold an eligible visa with approved working rights in Australia.
