Job summary

Aussie Painters Network is seeking motivated individuals for Painting Apprenticeships in Byron Bay. You will work alongside qualified painters, gaining hands-on experience, mentoring, and ongoing support to build a rewarding career in painting and decorating.

As an apprentice, you will learn to read plans, prepare surfaces, apply paints, and work on residential and commercial projects, with opportunities for a nationally recognised qualification upon completion.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in undertaking a Painting Apprenticeship.
• White Card or ability to obtain one quickly.
• Physical fitness for manual labour.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team.
• Positive attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions and take direction.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out measurements and basic calculations.
• Reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
• Erecting and maintaining trestle and plank systems.
• Handling painting and decorating materials.
• Using painting and decorating tools and equipment.
• Removing and replacing doors, windows and components.
• Preparing surfaces for painting.
• Applying paint using brushes and rollers.
• Applying textured coating finishes by brush, roller, and spray.

Working alongside qualified and skilled painters, you will gain valuable hands‑on experience, mentoring, and ongoing support throughout your apprenticeship.

About the role

As a Painting Apprentice, your duties will include:

• Carrying out measurements and basic calculations
• Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
• Erecting and maintaining trestle and plank systems
• Handling painting and decorating materials
• Using painting and decorating tools and equipment
• Removing and replacing doors, windows, and components
• Preparing surfaces for painting
• Applying paint using brushes and rollers
• Applying textured coating finishes by brush, roller, and spray

About you

The successful candidate will have:

• A genuine interest in undertaking a Painting Apprenticeship
• A White Card, or the ability to obtain one as soon as possible
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour
• A willingness to learn and work as part of a team
• A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
• The ability to follow instructions and take direction
• Trustworthiness and motivation
• Preferred (but not essential): A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
• Previous painting or construction‑related work experience
