Job summary

Rushway Transport in Brisbane's Rocklea depot is seeking an experienced Transport Allocator to coordinate overnight and linehaul operations, manage drivers and freight, and ensure on-time deliveries. You will monitor schedules, handle delays, communicate with drivers and depot staff, and uphold fatigue management and safety standards.

This is a full-time on-site role offering a hands-on opportunity to improve operational performance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Transport Allocator to join our team at our Rocklea depot.

This is a key operational role requiring someone with a strong background in overnight transport operations, linehaul and fresh produce allocation. You will be responsible for coordinating drivers, vehicles and freight movements to ensure our transport operations run smoothly, efficiently and to schedule.

We need someone who understands the pace and demands of the transport industry, can think on their feet and is confident making decisions when operational challenges arise.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and allocate drivers, vehicles and freight across overnight and linehaul operations.

Manage the allocation of fresh produce freight, ensuring deliveries and dispatches meet required timeframes.

Monitor transport schedules and respond promptly to delays, changes and operational issues.

Communicate clearly with drivers, customers, depot staff and other operational teams.

Ensure vehicles and drivers are allocated efficiently to maximise productivity.

Monitor delivery progress and address issues as they arise.

Maintain accurate transport records, schedules and operational documentation.

Ensure allocations comply with fatigue management requirements, chain of responsibility obligations and workplace health and safety procedures.

Assist with the day-to-day coordination of depot operations and contribute to continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience in transport allocation, specifically overnight operations, linehaul and fresh produce.

A sound understanding of transport scheduling, freight movements and delivery timeframes.

The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Confidence making decisions and managing changing operational demands.

A practical, solutions-focused approach and strong attention to detail.

The ability to work independently and as part of an operational team.

Experience with transport management systems and relevant fatigue management and chain of responsibility requirements will be highly regarded.
