Job description

Accounts Receivable / Debtor Management Opportunity
Bring your finance experience to an organisation helping shape its region’s future.

Cleverain is partnering with a regional council undergoing significant renewal and transformation. With diverse commercial operations, extensive community assets and a focus on improving how it delivers services, this is an opportunity to join an organisation whose work matters well beyond the finance team. You’ll contribute to that change while enjoying the Northern Rivers lifestyle, a nine-day fortnight and hybrid working arrangements.

The opportunity

This role combines accounts receivable and debtor management with investigation, problem-solving and relationship management. The portfolio is varied, spanning commercial tenants, quarries, childcare services and other business accounts. It’s a smaller volume of more complex accounts, where understanding the details and finding a resolution matter.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Manage invoicing, payment allocations, reconciliations and outstanding balances.
  • Investigate discrepancies, interpret leases and contracts, and resolve payment disputes.
  • Work closely with the property and leasing team and build effective relationships with customers.
  • Support month-end reporting and identify ways to improve processes and data quality.
About you
  • You bring practical experience in debtors, accounts receivable, accounts payable or assistant accounting. You’re curious, organised and comfortable taking ownership-someone who asks the right questions, investigates an issue and follows it through.
  • You’ll need confident communication skills, sound Excel capability and experience navigating finance systems. Local government or commercial property experience would be particularly relevant, as would familiarity with Civica Authority or a similar ERP.
  • Relevant finance or accounting qualifications or equivalent experience are valued. A current Class C driver’s license is required.
Why Make the Move?

Join an established finance team during a period of meaningful organisational change. You’ll have varied work, scope to contribute fresh ideas and the satisfaction of supporting services and facilities your community relies on. You'll also have the opportunity to live and work in one of Australia's most desirable regional areas, with Northern Rivers lifestyle.
