Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Buyer focused on Raw Materials to drive strategic sourcing and procurement for production inputs. This fully remote role requires strong negotiation skills, global market insights, and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.

The candidate will lead end-to-end purchasing, monitor commodity trends, and collaborate with quality, operations, and R&D teams to ensure continuity and responsible sourcing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Agriculture, Business, or related field.
• 6–8 years' progressive procurement experience, with focus on raw materials in the food manufacturing or related industry.
• Strong strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contract management for commodities.
• Deep understanding of global commodity markets and risk management strategies.
• Excellent analytical, financial, and data analysis skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, adapted for remote interaction.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain high productivity in a remote setting.
• Commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for all key raw material categories.
• Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers, negotiating favorable contracts, pricing, and delivery terms.
• Manage end-to-end procurement processes for raw materials, ensuring supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor global commodity markets, identify trends, and forecast potential impacts on pricing and availability.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with strategic suppliers.
• Ensure the consistent quality and timely delivery of raw materials to meet production schedules.
• Mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans for potential disruptions.
• Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality Control, and R&D teams to align procurement with business needs.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.
