Job summary

Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) invites applications for a fundraising and development internship in Vienna. The role supports the unit’s growth by building relationships with public and private partners and assisting with donor engagement and event coordination.

As an intern you will gain hands-on experience in administration, donor research, CRM management, and project coordination while communicating in German and English.

Qualifications

• Ongoing studies (Bachelor or Master) in relevant field such as Communication, Project management or Business Administration.
• Strong communication skills in German and English; eagerness to learn.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with CRM and databases is beneficial; Canva is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administration tasks (time scheduling, travel management, budget controlling support).
• Support donor research and administration of donor databases and CRM systems.
• Organize and prepare donor and stakeholder events, visits and meetings; ensure efficient office operations.
• Provide project management support, including task coordination, timelines, and follow-up with stakeholders.
• Edit documents and design materials in Canva for meetings.
• Communicate in English and German with internal and external stakeholders.

• Starting at € €1.887* gross/month depending on level of education; Duration: Up to 6 months (until 31.03.2027)

Your Responsibilities

To further strengthen ISTA’s long-term institutional growth and strategic initiatives, the unit of Fundraising and Development has recently been established. The unit’s goal is to enhance the institute’s external engagement by building strong relationships with partners from the private and public sectors, supporting the acquisition of competitive donations, and identifying new collaboration opportunities. As an intern you will get the chance to firsthand learn how this unit operates. The main responsibilities of this internship include:

• Assistance in several aspects of administration (e.g., time scheduling, travel management, budget controlling support etc.)
• Support in research of potential donors and administration of databases and CRM systems focused on donors and stakeholders
• Organization and preparation of donor and stakeholder events, visits, and meetings and ensuring efficient office operations
• Project management support, including task coordination, timeline tracking, and follow-up with stakeholders
• Basic document editing and design in Canva, including formatting and preparation of materials for meetings
• English and German communication with internal and external stakeholders

Your Profile

• Ongoing studies (Bachelor or Master) in relevant field, for example Communication, Project management or Business Administration
• Interest in external relations support, including preparing professional communication with an eagerness to learn more
• Strong communication skills in German and English
• Knowledge of the MS Office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Previous working experience with universities, research institutions, foundations, ministries or similar is of advantage
• Experience working with CRM, structured databases and Canva is an asset
• Team player with excellent hands-on mentality, structured working style, service orientation and ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity
