Job summary

FRANK-PTI GmbH is seeking a Field Service Technician (m/f/d) to install, calibrate and service laboratory testing instruments. You will travel in Austria and across Europe to customers, perform commissioning, maintenance and fault analysis, and document results in detailed service reports.

Qualifications

• Completed technical vocational training in electronics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or industrial mechanics.
• Experience in field service with complex instruments or machinery.
• Interest in calibration and measurement with traceable documentation.
• Ability to read circuit and wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
• Willingness to travel within Austria and Europe, with valid Category B licence.
• German fluency; English for technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test FRANK-PTI instruments at customer sites.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, fault analysis, and remote troubleshooting via Teams.
• Prepare service reports, testing records, and spare parts documentation.
• Provide calibration services and document results.

• Support Sales with technical questions on applications, parts, and modifications.
• Plan travel and service assignments in Austria and Europe with Service Coordination.

Job description

FRANK-PTI develops and supplies laboratory testing instruments and testing systems for industrial applications, including the paper, specialty paper, board and packaging industries, as well as other material sectors such as textiles and plastics. To strengthen our service team, we are looking for a Field Service Technician (m/f/d), with a focus on providing servicing and calibration services to customers in Austria and throughout Europe.

Your Responsibilities

• Installing, commissioning and carrying out functional tests on FRANK-PTI laboratory testing instruments at customer sites
• Performing maintenance and repairs, analysing faults and troubleshooting both on-site and remotely by telephone or Microsoft Teams
• Carrying out service assignments, including structured documentation such as service reports, test and measurement records, and records of corrective measures and spare parts
• Providing calibration services for our instruments in accordance with customer- and instrument-specific requirements, including documenting the calibration results
• Instructing and training users in the operation and maintenance of the equipment and in basic troubleshooting
• Providing technical feedback to the Development and Product Management teams regarding fault patterns, potential improvements and recurring issues
• Supporting the Sales and Internal Sales teams with technical questions relating to applications, feasibility, spare parts and equipment modifications
• Planning travel and service assignments in Austria and throughout Europe in coordination with the Service Coordination team

Your Profile

• Completed technical vocational training, for example as an electronics technician, mechatronics technician, electrical engineer or industrial mechanic, or a comparable qualification
• Experience in technical field service involving complex instruments or machinery; experience with laboratory, measurement or testing equipment would be an advantage
• An interest in or experience with calibration and measurement or testing procedures, combined with accurate and traceable documentation skills
• Confidence in reading circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
• A systematic approach to troubleshooting, a hands-on mentality and a customer-oriented manner
• Qualification as an electrical specialist would be desirable, or a willingness to obtain the relevant additional qualification
• Very good German language skills and sufficient English for technical communication; additional languages would be an advantage
• A high willingness to travel within Austria and Europe, including assignments lasting several days, as well as a valid Category B driving licence
• Confidence in using laptops and service tools; structured documentation should be second nature to you
