Job summary

Placements24 is seeking charismatic Tour Guides for a premium operator based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead small to medium groups on immersive tours, delivering insightful commentary and ensuring a safe, memorable experience.

You should have deep knowledge of local history and landmarks, strong public speaking and intercultural communication skills, and a willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a tour guide or in a customer-facing role.
• In-depth knowledge of Queenstown and Eastern Cape history and landmarks.
• Excellent verbal communication and storytelling skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage diverse groups.
• A valid driver's license is advantageous.
• First Aid certification is a strong plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Genuine passion for history, culture, and South African heritage.

Responsibilities

• Lead guided tours focusing on the cultural and historical significance of Queenstown and surrounding areas.
• Provide engaging and informative commentary on local history, landmarks, and cultural practices.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants throughout the excursion.
• Manage group dynamics and ensure all participants have a positive and inclusive experience.
• Answer questions and provide additional information to enhance the tour experience.
• Adhere to tour itineraries and time schedules.
• Collaborate with the tour operator to provide feedback on routes and content.
• Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
• Handle minor logistical issues that may arise during tours.
• Contribute to the development of new tour routes and content where applicable.
