AgileEngine is seeking a ServiceNow Discovery SME to act as the platform authority for a large-scale Discovery environment. You will assess MID Servers, discovery schedules, and runbooks, translating operational knowledge into structured workflows to empower the engineering team.

You will apply deep infrastructure knowledge across Linux, Windows, networking, and observability tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana) to improve data quality and discovery outcomes.

• Must have 4+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on ServiceNow Discovery exposure.

Responsabilidades

• Continuously assess health of the ServiceNow Discovery ecosystem including MID Servers, discovery schedules, target execution, throughput, latency, failures and coverage.
• Transform runbooks and troubleshooting procedures into documented workflows to reduce manual investigation.
• Collect, interpret metrics and telemetry from ServiceNow Discovery and monitoring tools to drive engineering improvements.
• Investigate complex infrastructure attributes to ensure data quality and successful discovery execution.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a ServiceNow Discovery SME to serve as the platform and infrastructure authority for a large-scale Discovery environment. This person assesses system health across MID Servers and discovery schedules, translating operational runbooks into structured workflows. Deep infrastructure knowledge across Linux, Windows, and networking rounds out the role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Continuously assess the health of the ServiceNow Discovery ecosystem, including MID Servers, discovery schedules/playbooks, target execution, throughput, latency, failures, retries, and discovery coverage.
• Convert operational knowledge, runbooks, and recurring troubleshooting procedures into structured, documented workflows, progressively enabling the engineering team to reduce manual investigation.
• Regularly collect, aggregate, and interpret metrics and telemetry from ServiceNow Discovery, logs, and monitoring platforms to turn them into actionable engineering improvements.
• Investigate complex infrastructure attributes and relationships to ensure data quality and successful discovery execution.

MUST HAVES

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, with hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery, including MID Servers, Discovery Patterns/Probes, credentials, schedules, Discovery Status, ECC Queue, and troubleshooting Discovery failures.
• Experience developing or modifying ServiceNow Discovery Patterns and Probes and understanding how infrastructure attributes and relationships are discovered.
• Experience with ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM, Configuration Items (CIs), identification/reconciliation, relationships, and CMDB data quality.
• Practical knowledge of Infrastructure Engineering with Linux, Windows Server, compute, virtualization/cloud infrastructure, authentication, processes/services, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, ports, SSH, WMI/WinRM, SNMP, HTTP/S, and common network and infrastructure troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

• Basic scripting experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript) to assist in automation tasks.
• Familiarity working in Agile squads alongside software developers.
