Job summary

Atomic Hr is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to operate and improve a Snowflake-based data platform in a regulated healthcare environment. The role covers production support, ingestion, modeling, and end-to-end data workflows across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers.

You will own data platform operations for LatAm coverage, collaborate with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, and governance teams, and mentor engineers. Flexible remote/on-site options available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience on Snowflake, including data-layer design, performance, access patterns, and production troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL skills and strong dbt experience for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and controlled deployment.
• Experience operating managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran or HVR and supporting custom data-ingestion pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services, particularly S3 and event-driven or file-based ingestion patterns.
• Experience orchestrating data workloads with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes or comparable tools.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and tooling.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, pipeline dependencies, schema evolution, backfills, data validation, and data quality.
• Experience with observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management for production data platforms.
• Leadership in incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• Ability to make technical decisions, estimate work, and guide platform improvements across complex systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, Governance, and business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with client-facing experience.
• Availability to work 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Pacific Time and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform during LatAm coverage, including operations, troubleshooting, and escalations.
• Operate and optimize Snowflake production and non-production environments, including sizing, monitoring, lifecycle, and production changes.
• Administer data access with least-privilege controls, secrets, and credential rotation.
• Manage data ingestion across Fivetran, HVR, and custom pipelines, including scheduling and failure recovery.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines and dbt models across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers with testing and CI/CD.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations, including lifecycle controls and access patterns.
• Coordinate with Cloud/DevOps on Argo Workflows and Kubernetes-hosted workloads.
• Define data quality and observability standards, including freshness and schema-drift checks.
• Lead or support major data incidents, root-cause analysis, and post-incident actions.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations where upstream data integration requires investigation.
• Deliver standardization, automation, reliability, performance, and cost improvements across platforms.
• Follow controlled incident, request, change, and release processes with runbooks and procedures.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and ensure effective handoffs across distributed teams.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical incidents outside staffed hours.
