Job summary

Proofpoint in Cordoba, Argentina is hiring a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer for a hybrid role at the Data Platform team. You will own reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics capabilities across AWS infrastructure.

You will build CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud infrastructure, and design observability for data workflows while collaborating with engineers and security teams to ship high-quality data products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on data engineering work.
• Deep expertise with AWS core services: S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation/CDK.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services: Glue (ETL jobs, Crawlers, Data Catalog), Athena (workgroup management, query tuning, federated queries), and S3 lifecycle, encryption, event notifications.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools—Terraform and/or AWS CDK—for managing production cloud environments.
• Strong CI/CD experience: pipelines in GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes).
• Proven ability to design and operate observability systems (metrics, logging, distributed tracing, alerting).
• Strong communication skills to translate operational concerns into engineering trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and promotion of AWS Glue ETL jobs and related data infra.
• Build and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform and/or CDK).
• Own the observability stack: metrics, logs, alerts to ensure SLA and fast incident response.
• Develop and maintain the DataOps platform, templates, and shared libraries for production pipelines.
• Manage container and compute infrastructure (Docker, ECS/EKS, or Lambda) used by data ingestion services.
• Operate workflow orchestration environments (MWAA / Airflow / Step Functions) including upgrades and scaling.
• Build and maintain AWS Glue ETL jobs (PySpark) for large-scale data ingestion/transformation on S3.
• Drive security practices: Secrets Manager, least-privilege IAM, network segmentation, compliance controls.
• Collaborate with data teams to translate requirements into scalable automation.
• Lead incident response for data platform outages and perform post-mortems.
