Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to operate and improve a Snowflake-based enterprise data platform in a regulated healthcare environment. You will own day-to-day operations, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive data ingestion, modeling, and quality across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers, collaborating with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake and data-layer design.
• Advanced SQL skills and dbt for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and controlled deployment.
• Experience operating Fivetran or HVR and custom ingestion pipelines.
• Hands-on with AWS data services, especially S3 and event/file-based ingestion patterns.
• Experience with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and tooling.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, dependencies, schema evolution, backfills, data validation, and data quality.
• Experience with observability, logging, alerting, and incident management for production data platforms.
• Ability to lead incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• Ability to make well-reasoned technical decisions and guide improvements across a complex platform.
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, Governance, and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; able to work with client stakeholders.
• Availability to work 9:00 AM–6:00 PM PT and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform during LatAm coverage window.
• Operate and improve Snowflake production and non-production environments, including configuration, performance, and lifecycle management.
• Administer data access with least-privilege controls and audit readiness.
• Operate and improve data ingestion across Fivetran, HVR, and custom pipelines; manage scheduling, onboarding, and failures.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines and dbt models across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers with testing and CI/CD.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations and lifecycle management, with integration to Snowflake workloads.
• Coordinate with Cloud/DevOps for Argo Workflows and Kubernetes-hosted data workloads; handle scheduling, deployment, and recovery.
• Define and improve data quality and observability standards (freshness, null checks, etc.).
• Extend monitoring and lineage using tools like SYNQ, dbt, Snowflake audit data, Splunk, and alerting stack.
• Lead or support major data incidents, root-cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and preventive actions across ingestion, orchestration, Snowflake, and Tableau dependencies.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations where upstream data or connectivity issues require investigation.
• Identify standardization and automation opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and cost; migrate legacy patterns to golden paths.
• Execute work through incident, request, access, change, and release processes; maintain runbooks and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and ensure effective handoffs within the distributed Data Platform team.
• Participate in data platform on-call rotation outside staffed service hours.
