Job summary

AgileEngine, a leading software services company, seeks a Senior Data Engineer to operate and improve a Snowflake-based enterprise data platform in a regulated healthcare environment. You will design data models, manage ingestion pipelines, and ensure data quality and observability across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers.

Responsibilities include ownership during LatAm coverage, coordinating with Cloud/DevOps, and mentoring engineers while providing robust incident response and runbooks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on Snowflake experience including data-layer design and production troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL and dbt for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and deployment.
• Experience with Fivetran or HVR and data-ingestion pipelines.
• Hands-on AWS data services experience, especially S3 and ingestion patterns.
• Experience with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes or similar workflow engines.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation.
• Understanding of data modeling, schema evolution, backfills, and data quality.
• Experience with observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management.
• Ability to lead incident resolution and perform root-cause analysis.
• Ability to make technical decisions and guide platform improvements.
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, Governance, and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal English; able to work with client stakeholders.
• Availability to work 9:00 AM–6:00 PM Pacific Time and participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform during LatAm coverage window.
• Operate and improve Snowflake production and non-production environments; monitor performance and costs.
• Administer data access with least-privilege controls and audit-ready practices.
• Operate and improve data ingestion across Fivetran, HVR and custom pipelines.
• Design and maintain dbt models across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers with CI/CD.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations and coordination with downstream Snowflake workloads.
• Support Argo Workflows and Kubernetes-hosted data workloads with Cloud/DevOps.
• Define and improve data quality and observability standards and checks.
• Expand end-to-end monitoring and lineage using tools like SYNQ, dbt, Splunk.
• Lead or support major data incidents and perform post-incident reviews.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations where data connectivity or refresh fails require investigation.
• Identify automation and standardization opportunities; migrate legacy patterns toward golden paths.
• Execute work through incident, change, and release processes; maintain runbooks and SOPs.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and ensure effective handoffs across the distributed team.
• Participate in Data Platform on-call rotation outside staffed hours.
