AgileEngine is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems for a product-led engineering team. You will work in Java and/or Kotlin with Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB, and Aurora MySQL on AWS, covering operational tooling to system architecture.

Nice-to-haves include event-driven systems with Kafka/SQS, Terraform, and microservices. You will collaborate across functions and participate in code reviews while driving cost-savings and observability efforts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proficiency in MongoDB on Atlas.
• Proficiency in Aurora MySQL on AWS.
• Experience with AWS-based cloud-native systems.
• Experience with Spring Boot.
• API development with GraphQL (Netflix DGS).
• Experience building large-scale, resilient cloud systems.

Responsibilities

• Take on lower-priority engineering work including compliance, maintenance, and observability.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant software systems.
• Contribute to system architecture and design reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Partner with a Product Manager and engineers to clarify requirements and implement solutions.
