Job summary

Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in AI-driven risk tooling. The role offers 100% remote work with LATAM flexibility and focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable distributed systems using Java and Python.

You will own features end-to-end, leverage AI-assisted development workflows, and collaborate with a highly technical team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ professional experience with Python, building and maintaining production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM-based application development in production environments.
• Experience with AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows is preferred.
• Distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup or fast-paced environments.
• Advanced English level

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
