Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to recruit a Senior Backend Engineer. The role focuses on designing and building scalable backend systems in Java and Python, with emphasis on AI-assisted development and distributed architectures.

The candidate will own features end-to-end, work on production-grade systems, and collaborate with a highly technical team across a remote LATAM setup. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years with Python, production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM-based development (AI agents, agentic systems).
• Experience building AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows in production.
• Distributed systems, scalable architectures, async processing.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Ownership mindset and startup/fast-paced adaptability.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, queues, and data pipelines.
• Own features and services through design, implementation, monitoring, and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems focusing on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve system performance and scalability across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and key technical decisions.
