Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate a scalable Kafka estate behind an event-driven integration platform.

You will design topics, manage partitions, replication, retention, and consumer groups, while ensuring reliability and auditable event replay. The role emphasizes production Linux engineering, Python automation, and CI/CD ownership, with experience in containers, IaC, and observability.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on production Kafka experience (4+ years).
• Proficiency with event-driven delivery semantics, idempotency, and replay/recovery.
• Strong Linux engineering and Python scripting skills.
• CI/CD ownership, preferably Jenkins pipelines.
• Containers and container orchestration with Docker/Podman and Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management experience.
• Observability tooling, metrics, logs, and SLOs.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and AI coding tools.
• Networking, TLS, secrets management, and OAuth2.
• Production operations mindset: incident response and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate, including topic design, partitioning, replication, and retention policies.
• Ensure platform resilience during upstream SaaS degradation and scale events.
• Enforce delivery guarantees: exactly-once/at-least-once, dead-letter topics, and replay tooling.
• Build and maintain streaming observability: lag, throughput, and end-to-end tracing.
• Plan capacity, cost, and retention for a durable, auditable log.
• Evaluate vendor streaming and change-data-capture integrations as the platform grows.
• Own and evolve the build/release pipeline with Jenkins and artifact distribution.
• Manage runtime estate: container deployments and OS modernization.
• Automate provisioning and keep inventory as a single source of truth.
• Collaborate with Python developers on performance and cost optimization.
