Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate the Kafka estate behind a robust event-driven platform. You will design topics, manage partitions and replication, and ensure delivery guarantees with at-least-once and exactly-once semantics.

The role involves building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, container deployments, and observability tooling to support a scalable, compliant SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production Kafka experience, including design, partitioning, and lag troubleshooting.
• Experience with event-driven delivery semantics: at-least-once vs exactly-once, idempotency, ordering, and dead-letter handling.
• Strong Linux engineering and Python scripting.
• CI/CD pipeline ownership, preferably Jenkins declarative pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate: topic design, partitioning, replication, retention, and offsets.
• Ensure platform resilience during upstream SaaS degradation and handle traffic spikes.
• Implement at-least-once and exactly-once semantics, idempotent producers, and transactional writes where needed.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, dashboards, and alerting.
• Plan capacity and retention for durable logs with audit requirements.
• Evaluate vendor-native streaming and CDC mechanisms for ingress/egress paths.
• Own and evolve build/release: Jenkins pipelines, packaged installs, signed images, and internal distribution.
• Operate runtime estate: container deployments and OS modernization.
• Automate provisioning and maintain single source of truth for configuration.
• Collaborate with Python developers on deployability, performance and cost.
