Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems. You will work with Java and/or Kotlin, Spring Boot, GraphQL, and MongoDB Atlas on AWS, contributing to operational tooling and system architecture.

You will handle compliance, cost-savings, observability, and tool development, while collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and designers to deliver high-quality software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proficiency with a modern NoSQL database (MongoDB Atlas).
• Proficiency with a modern relational database (Aurora MySQL on AWS).
• Experience building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS.
• Experience with Spring Boot and API development with GraphQL.

Responsibilities

• Take on lower-priority engineering work including compliance, maintenance, cost-savings, observability, and tool development.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design with data-driven validation.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews to uphold engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Partner with a Product Manager and engineers to clarify requirements and perform mid-level design work, focusing on coding, testing, and documentation.
