SQUIRE seeks a Chief Retrograde Officer to lead company-wide contingency planning during planetary retrogrades and to oversee risk checks before launches. You will coordinate with leadership, ensure critical backups, and run retrospectives after each cycle in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with People Ops on wellness initiatives and act as the calm voice of reason for major decisions during eclipses. A sense of humor helps in a high-stress setting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years leading operations, risk, or business continuity at a fast-growing company.
• Deep working knowledge of planetary cycles and willingness to let data guide decisions.
• Calm, steady presence during launches, outages, and peak times.
• Strong cross-functional communication, especially in saying no when needed.
• Experience building playbooks and checklists that teams actually follow.
• Sense of humor and ability to take work seriously without taking yourself too seriously.

Responsibilities

• Own the Mercury Retrograde Readiness Plan from shadow period to final all-clear.
• Review product launches, contracts, and quick emails for cosmic risk before shipping.
• Maintain the Retrograde Calendar and brief leadership two weeks before each cycle.
• Lead the Cross-Functional Backup Council to ensure backups of files, passwords, and Slack threads.
• Run post-retrograde retrospectives to distinguish real incidents from planetary excuses.
• Partner with People Ops on a Retrograde Wellness Program including calm-down hours and snack stipends.
• Serve as executive voice of reason when signing major deals during an eclipse.
