Job summary

Magi-K seeks freelance Cantonese/ Mandarin over-the-phone interpreters. This 100% remote role offers flexible scheduling and monthly USD payments after onboarding. Immediate start after onboarding is available to suitable candidates.

Ideal applicants have native Cantonese or Mandarin plus strong English, and a background in medical or legal terminology is a plus. Requires reliable internet, Windows 10+, and a noise-cancelling headset.

Qualifications

• Must be a native speaker of Mandarin or Cantonese with strong English (B2/C1) proficiency.
• Experience in interpretation and familiarity with medical/legal terminology is a plus.
• Solid computer and internet setup: Windows 10+, fast, reliable connection, noise-cancelling headset.

Responsibilities

• Provide over-the-phone interpretation between Mandarin/Cantonese and English.
• Convey speaker intent, tone, and nuance accurately in target language.
• Adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality standards.
• Familiarity with healthcare terminology relevant to interpretation work.

Your role

Your job as an Over-the-Phone interpreter involves providing clear and accurate interpretation between languages, assisting non-English speakers in various activities.

Required qualifications (Must have):

• Native in Mandarin or Cantonese - Level English: B2/C1 level
• We consider as a plus: Experience in the interpretation and good knowledge of medical / legal terminology
• Computer : Windows 10 or newer, with Pentium, or I3 processor. Minimum: Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz / Recommended: i5 / i7 2.4 GHz and above.. It should have a 4 GB RAM Minimum (8GB recommended).
• Stable and fast internet connection (Wi-Fi is not allowed). Internet speed of 4Mbps Download/Upload.
• A noise canceling wired USB Headsets
• Willingness to learn and grow both professionally and personally.

Your responsibilities:

• Providing over the phone interpretation services.
• Imparting thought, purpose, spirit, emotions, and tone of speakers from source language into target language. (Mandarin or Cantonese-English language pair).
• Complying with applicable ethics and standards
• Be aware of the specific vocabulary of the industry the interpreter works with (healthcare and medical one, specifically).
