Role Overview
This role reports directly to the Head of Tax and is primarily responsible for advising on the tax implications of regional and international operations, as well as other tax-related responsibilities including VAT, corporate income tax, mobile employee taxes, and withholding taxes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex technical issues in a legally constantly evolving environment, keeping aware of new laws and regulations and their application by tax authorities in all countries where the group operates, while meeting internal and external deadlines.
- Optimize tax rates and cash flows in a challenging environment, managing technical complexities without compromising the security of the group.
- Engage with various counterparts with divergent interests, balancing the group’s objectives on effective tax rate and tax cash management.
- Prepare, validate, and ensure timely delivery of income tax, VAT, GST, and withholding tax returns, including managing related formalities and reports. Note: Custom clearance formalities are not the responsibility of the tax department.
- Review bids, provide pricing information, and include relevant tax clauses in contracts to safeguard group interests.
- Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation.
- Handle tax filings and litigations.
- Coordinate with operational management on tax issues and with accounting staff on tax accounting matters.
- Ensure internal controls for tax accounting are effective.
- Assess tax risks and provide practical, technically sound recommendations.
- Offer tax advisory services and support other departments as needed.
- Manage relationships with external advisors for timely and cost-effective advice.
- Assist in defending PXGEO during tax audits.
Supervision of Personnel:
Supervise Finance Specialists - Tax and external advisors as appointed.
Stakeholders:
Internal: Operations, Finance, Sales, HR, Executive Management, and other departments.
External: Clients, Partners, Consultants, Advisors, and governmental/regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- Degree in Law, Economics, or Accounting.
- Master’s in Tax or CPA preferred.
- Experience with permanent establishment taxation, tax treaties, and transfer pricing.
- Extensive knowledge of offshore tax issues, especially in seismic or offshore industries.
- At least 8 years of experience in a major accounting firm, large corporate tax department, or government tax office.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, and research skills.
- Proactive, influential, and driven personality.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Experience with international bids and tenders.
