Role Context

The Vendor Manager plays a key role in building and scaling the fresh grocery business by managing sourcing strategies, vendor relationships, and category profitability. This role supports long‑term business growth by improving product availability, pricing strategy, and customer experience across fresh and frozen product categories while ensuring strong commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with fresh and frozen product vendors across fruits, vegetables, dairy, poultry, and related categories.
• Develop sourcing strategies for seasonal and long shelf‑life fresh products to improve availability and profitability.
• Negotiate vendor contracts, terms of trade, and operating models for long‑term business growth.
• Support category leadership in driving new strategic business initiatives and expansion opportunities.
• Build annual seasonal product portfolios to improve customer engagement and store traffic.
• Manage category profit and loss performance with focus on top‑line and bottom‑line growth.
• Define and optimize assortment mix at dark‑store level to reduce shrinkage and improve customer experience.
• Source promotional deals for major retail events and ensure strong customer value for Prime customers.
• Secure marketing investment from vendors for product visibility during daily operations and special campaigns.
• Prepare, present, and close annual joint business plans with vendors and key stakeholders.

Ideal Profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in retail, operations, vendor management, product management, or business consulting.
• Strong background in fresh produce sourcing, imports, vendor management, and retail operations is required.
• Strong experience with financial analysis and category profit and loss ownership.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reporting capability.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience influencing senior executives and C‑level stakeholders.
• Good understanding of fresh produce quality standards preferred.
• Experience managing large data sets and improving operational performance through analysis.
• Ability to work independently in fast‑paced and high‑demand startup environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness is an advantage.
