Job summary

POWERCHINA JEPCC | Dubai, UAE is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Primary Design Engineer to join our engineering design team in Dubai. The role focuses on HV/EHV substations including 132kV, 220kV, and 400kV, with emphasis on independent design and calculations.

The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years hands-on HV/EHV substation primary design experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and good technical English. UAE residence is preferred and GCC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years direct, hands-on HV/EHV substation primary design experience.
• Ability to independently prepare detailed design drawings and engineering calculations.
• Strong knowledge of AIS/GIS substation design, IEC standards, and EPC engineering requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant electrical design/calculation software.
• Good technical English communication skills.
• GCC substation design experience preferred.
• Candidates currently based in the UAE will be given preference.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare SLDs, GA drawings, equipment layouts, busbar arrangements, and electrical clearance designs.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations for earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing, and equipment selection.
• Develop primary electrical designs for HV/EHV AIS/GIS substations (132kV, 220kV, 400kV).
• Design station auxiliary AC/DC systems, battery chargers, UPS systems, and associated capacity calculations.
• Prepare HV/EHV cable design deliverables, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, BOQs, and material schedules.
• Coordinate with secondary electrical, civil, structural and other engineering disciplines.
• Independently deliver complete primary electrical detailed design packages for EPC projects.

• Independently prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment layouts, busbar arrangements, and electrical clearance designs.

• Develop primary electrical designs for HV/EHV AIS/GIS substations (132kV, 220kV, and 400kV).
