Design Engineer – HV Substations (Full‑time, Dubai, UAE)

Location: Dubai, UAE | Industry: Construction | Function: Electrical‑Electronics Engineering | Experience: 5‑8 years | Salary: 12,000‑20,000 AED per month

Position Overview

Specialized electrical design focused on high‑voltage substations, DEWA–approved engineering standards, cabling, switchgear and power system design. Prepare accurate HV design drawings, calculations, technical submittals and approval documents while coordinating with consultants, contractors and internal project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive high‑voltage electrical system designs, technical drawings, layouts, calculations and engineering documentation
• Perform detailed load analysis, cable sizing, voltage‑drop calculations, short‑circuit checks and protection coordination studies
• Design HV substation systems covering substations, cabling, switchgear, power distribution and related electrical infrastructure
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with DEWA regulations, IEC standards, project specifications and international engineering practices
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, authorities and internal project teams to support design clarity and smooth project execution
• Review technical documents, design inputs, submittals and approval requirements for HV electrical works
• Provide technical support during tendering, including design clarifications, technical submissions and authority approval coordination
• Use AutoCAD, ETAP, Dialux and relevant electrical design tools to prepare accurate and compliant engineering outputs
• Support resolution of technical design issues by preparing practical solutions aligned with project and regulatory requirements
• Maintain organized design records, calculation sheets, approval documents and engineering correspondence for project tracking

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5‑8 years of proven experience in HV electrical design, especially substations, cabling and switchgear
• DEWA approval is preferred or required for suitable project assignments
• Strong understanding of DEWA regulations, IEC standards, electrical design codes and authority approval requirements
• Hands‑on experience in load analysis, cable sizing, protection coordination and technical design calculations
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, Dialux and other relevant electrical design tools
• Strong mathematical, presentation, technical documentation and communication skills
• Proficiency in English with the ability to coordinate clearly with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders
• Detail‑oriented approach with the ability to manage technical accuracy, deadlines and approval requirements in a fast‑paced project environment
