Role Context
The Store Manager will oversee the full operating performance of the supermarket, ensuring that sales, profitability, stock availability, service quality, compliance, and team productivity remain aligned with business objectives. This role requires a commercially focused retail leader who can analyze performance data, control costs, guide department heads, manage improvement plans, and support continued business growth in a fast-paced supermarket environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily supermarket operations to achieve sales targets, profitability goals, customer service standards, and operational performance objectives.
- Ensure effective implementation of Majid Al Futtaim Retail supermarket strategies, procedures, and operating standards in coordination with Head Office and Corporate Office.
- Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate commercial performance and recommend actions to increase sales turnover, margin performance, and profitability.
- Maximize supermarket sales and profitability by controlling operating costs within approved budgetary guidelines.
- Review and analyze stock reports, sales reports, performance dashboards, and operational results to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with department heads to maintain effective stock management, including stock value, out-of-stock control, product availability, replenishment, and timely deliveries.
- Monitor supermarket inventory movement, shrinkage risks, stock holding, slow-moving items, and availability levels to support stronger operational efficiency.
- Lead, guide, and develop the store team to enhance customer service, improve productivity, and ensure customer requirements are met according to company standards.
- Supervise service, maintenance, and safety-related activities to ensure supermarket assets, equipment, and facilities are fully operational, secure, and safe for customers and employees.
- Support performance management by setting clear objectives, monitoring employee performance, providing constructive feedback, and identifying development needs.
- Work closely with department heads, operations teams, support functions, and corporate stakeholders to ensure timely decisions and smooth execution of store priorities.
- Implement action plans for continuous improvement in customer experience, stock control, cost efficiency, sales execution, and team performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, retail procedures, health and safety standards, security requirements, and internal control guidelines.
- Maintain a customer-focused store environment that supports loyalty, repeat visits, and strong supermarket brand reputation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Commerce, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- 8 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years in a retail business.
- Proven experience as a Store Manager, Supermarket Manager, Hypermarket Manager, Retail Operations Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of supermarket operations, sales performance, stock management, replenishment, department coordination, cost control, and customer service standards.
- Demonstrated ability to guide, develop, and motivate teams in a large-format retail or supermarket environment.
- Strong analytical and pragmatic problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely and effective business decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across store teams, department heads, head office, and corporate stakeholders.
- Highly organized, with strong multitasking, time management, and operational follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage commercial targets, operational routines, people performance, and improvement plans in a busy retail environment.
