Job summary

GSSTech Group in Dubai is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Engineer to lead DBA activities on large enterprise systems, focusing on high availability and performance. You will manage RAC, Data Guard, OCI, AWS, OEM, RMAN, patching, migrations, and automate tasks with Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, Terraform, Bash, and Python.

You will work with cross-functional teams and may participate in out-of-hours support when required.

Qualifications

• Extensive Oracle DBA experience in large enterprise environments.
• Strong RAC, Data Guard, OEM, RMAN and patching skills.
• Experience with OCI/AWS and DevOps tooling.
• Proficiency in SQL/PL/SQL, Unix/Linux, and scripting (Python/Bash).
• Background in automation and Agile delivery is a plus.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior‑level Oracle database administration and engineering support for technology projects and enterprise platforms.
• Design, implement, maintain, and support highly available and resilient Oracle database environments.
• Perform advanced Oracle database performance tuning, including SQL tuning, database tuning, workload analysis, and performance optimization.
• Administer and support Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments.
• Administer and support Oracle Data Guard environments for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Manage Oracle databases across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS environments.
• Monitor and manage database environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Perform database backup, recovery, and restore activities using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
• Plan and execute Oracle database patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
• Perform database migrations across environments and platforms while ensuring minimal business disruption.
• Analyze and resolve complex database performance, availability, and production issues.
• Develop and maintain database administration standards, procedures, and operational documentation.
• Support multiple technology projects and database initiatives concurrently.
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, development, and technology teams to support project delivery.
• Participate in incident management, root‑cause analysis, problem management, and production support activities.
• Automate repetitive Oracle DBA activities and operational processes using modern automation technologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve database administration efficiency through scripting, automation, and DevOps practices.
• Participate in Agile delivery practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Technical Skills

Oracle Database Administration 8+ years of strong hands‑on experience in Oracle Database Administration / Engineering within large enterprise environments.

• Excellent knowledge of Oracle Database administration and architecture.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Oracle RAC.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Oracle Data Guard.
• Strong experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Strong experience with Oracle RMAN.
• Strong experience in Oracle database patching.
• Strong experience in Oracle database performance tuning, including: + SQL tuning + Database tuning + Query optimization + Performance analysis and troubleshooting
• Strong experience in Oracle database migration.

Cloud

Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Database / Programming

Good knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL.

• Good knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
