Job summary

GSS Group is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support enterprise projects with a strong focus on performance tuning and DBA automation.

The role involves working across multiple projects, with out-of-hours support as needed, in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience in large organizations.
• Hands-on Oracle RAC, Dataguard, RMAN, and OEM expertise.
• Experience with OCI and AWS cloud environments.
• Strong SQL/PL-SQL skills and Unix/Linux proficiency.
• Knowledge of patching processes and database migrations.
• Familiarity with automation using Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform.
• Ability to work in Agile delivery teams and handle out-of-hours support.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle databases across production and non-production.
• Own end-to-end performance tuning at SQL and DB level.
• Manage high availability with RAC and Dataguard.
• Execute backup and recovery with RMAN.
• Handle patching cycles and version upgrades.
• Operate databases via OEM; manage OCI and AWS environments.
• Automate recurring tasks using Bash, Python and IaC tools.

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support enterprise technology projects with a strong focus on Oracle performance tuning and DBA automation. This role sits within a fast paced delivery environment, working across multiple projects concurrently, and requires resilience under pressure including occasional out of hours and weekend support

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Oracle databases across production and non production environments
• Own end to end performance tuning at SQL and database level
• Manage high availability architecture including Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Dataguard
• Execute backup and recovery operations using Recovery Manager (RMAN)
• Handle database patching cycles and version upgrades
• Administer environments through Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
• Operate and support databases across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS
• Automate recurring DBA tasks using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform and Groovy
• Lead or support database migration projects
• Write and maintain scripts in Bash and Python to support operational efficiency
• Work within Agile delivery teams, collaborating across multiple simultaneous projects
• Provide production support during out of hours and weekends as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience in large organizations
• Excellent hands on knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
• Excellent hands on knowledge of Oracle Dataguard
• Excellent hands on knowledge of RMAN
• Excellent hands on knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
• Excellent knowledge of database patching processes
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning
• Excellent knowledge of database migration methodologies
• Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS
• Good knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL
