Job summary

D4 Insight in Dubai, UAE, is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support enterprise projects. The role focuses on Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and automation of routine DBA tasks.

You will manage Oracle databases, RAC, Data Guard, OEM, RMAN, and operate across OCI and AWS, while driving patches, migrations, and SQL tuning. Occasional out-of-hours support is required.

This is a hands-on role for experienced professionals comfortable in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Oracle database engineering experience in large organizations.
• Strong Oracle DBA fundamentals: RAC, Data Guard, OEM, RMAN.
• Experience with OCI and AWS.
• Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL.
• Unix/Linux proficiency; scripting with Bash and Python.
• Familiar with Agile practices; automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Groovy.
• Banking/Financial DB experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Oracle databases including RAC and Data Guard.

Job Overview:

We are looking for Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support technology projects across enterprise environments. The role requires strong expertise in Oracle database administration and performance tuning, combined with a strong interest in automating repetitive DBA activities using modern automation technologies.

The successful candidate will work across multiple projects simultaneously and should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, including occasional out-of-hours and weekend support as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Oracle Database Administration

• Administer and support Oracle databases, including:
  • Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
  • Oracle Data Guard
• Manage database operations across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS.
• Administer and monitor databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Perform database backup and recovery activities using RMAN.

Performance & Database Engineering

• Perform database patching and migrations.
• Conduct SQL and database-level performance tuning.
• Identify and resolve database performance issues.
• Maintain database reliability and operational stability across technology projects.

Automation & DevOps

• Automate repetitive Oracle DBA activities using modern automation technologies.
• Develop and maintain automation using:
  • Ansible
  • Jenkins
  • Terraform
  • Groovy
• Contribute to improving operational efficiency through automation.

Project & Operational Support

• Work across multiple technology projects simultaneously.
• Operate effectively under pressure and support critical activities when required.
