Tanqeeb is seeking a seasoned Demurrage Analyst in the United Arab Emirates to issue and negotiate settlements for demurrage and other charter party claims. You will defend payable demurrage claims and handle cargo-related claims, including P&I when applicable.
In this role you will supervise and coordinate with the contracts team, review voyage plans, and maintain accurate demurrage data to support trading P&L while proactively reducing financial exposure.
-Issue and negotiate settlement and recover receivable contract demurrage claims always within time bar deadlines.
-Defend and negotiates contract demurrage claims payable.
-Damage cargoes claim and other shipping claims, including P&I claims when applicable
-Direct Demurrage Analyst, to receive, defend and settle charter party demurrage and other claims.
-Co-operate closely with all other departments, especially contracts department, where advice on terms relating to lay time and demurrage is required. Good advice is essential to reduce the company’s exposure at source in contract terms.
-Handle voyage planning, which includes giving arrival notices both at load and discharge ports.
-Request Bills of Lading instructions, check stowage plans for accuracy and feasibility
-Working with cargo operations will also involve calculating fees eg port disbursements and settlements, as well as freight cost estimations for customers.
-Review monthly demurrage reports and coordinates closely with sites to identify and recommend changes to process and or operations which would assist in reducing financial exposure and make efficiencies.
-Maintain accurately Excel database of all payable and receivable claims. This is the 'master’ document and accuracy is essential as this data is used to support trading P&L.
-Ensure fast recovery of demurrage settlements from counterparts
-Ability to analyse data with a high level attention to detail and accuracy
-Communicate with shipping group to proactively avoid potential demurrage issues.
