Job summary

Progressive GE in Dubai is seeking a Senior Shipping Operator / Assistant Operations Manager to support its expanding tanker operations team. You will report to the Shipping Operations Manager and act as a critical link between Operations, Chartering, Technical teams, vessel stakeholders, and external partners.

The role includes deputizing for the Shipping Operations Manager, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring performance, compliance, and timely reporting across voyages.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years' experience in tanker shipping operations or post-fixture execution.
• Strong understanding of vessel operations, voyage execution, and charter party terms.
• Experience with laytime, demurrage, freight claims, and stakeholder coordination.
• Proficient in IMOS (Veson) or similar shipping platforms.
• Knowledge of IMO, MARPOL, CII, EU ETS, and sanctions compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage tanker vessel operations from fixture through voyage completion.
• Coordinate closely with Chartering, Technical, Masters, Agents, Terminals, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor voyage performance and ensure charter party obligations are met.
• Handle laytime calculations, demurrage, freight claims, and voyage reporting.
• Ensure operational documentation and reporting are accurate and timely.
• Support the day-to-day management of the owned tanker fleet.
• Assist in mentoring and coordinating junior operational staff.
• Deputize for the Shipping Operations Manager when required.

A growing international shipping business is seeking an experienced Senior Shipping Operator / Assistant Operations Manager to support its expanding tanker operations team.

Reporting to the Shipping Operations Manager / Head of Shipping, you will play a key role in the operational and commercial management of an owned tanker fleet, acting as a critical link between Operations, Chartering, Technical teams, vessel stakeholders, and external partners. This position will also deputize for the Shipping Operations Manager on routine matters and offers a clear pathway toward broader operational and commercial responsibility.

• Exposure to SIRE 2.0, PSC, CDI, and Oil Major vetting requirements is advantageous
