Job summary

The Arts Club Dubai seeks a Sommelier Supervisor to support the Head Sommelier in delivering exceptional wine experiences for members and guests.

You will supervise daily wine service, manage stock and costs, and mentor the sommelier team while upholding the club's standards of excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in same or similar role in luxury hotels or fine dining
• Internationally recognized professional certification
• Excellent level of English, written and spoken
• Ability to recommend food and wine pairings
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent team management and communication skills
• Demonstrate integrity and confidentiality

• Able to work long shifts and stand for extended periods

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily wine service operations and guide the sommelier team
• Manage stock, wine orders, listings, par levels, corked wines, wastage and comps
• Review sales to ensure profitability and stock rotation
• Keep wine list up to date with correct vintages
• Handle wine-related inquiries and complaints and take action
• Monitor glassware and maintain equipment
• Collaborate on wine marketing strategies with other departments
• Help control operating costs related to glassware and resources

The Sommelier Supervisor supports the Head and Assistant Head Sommelier in delivering an exceptional wine experience for members and guests. The role focuses on supervising daily wine service operations, guiding the sommelier team, and upholding The Arts Club's standards of excellence, service and attention to detail.

What Will You Do

Your main duties and responsibilities are:

• Support with managing and leading wine sales and revenue for the entire restaurant beverages operation, whilst motivating and driving the team in a positive manner
• Control and manage stock, wine orders, listings, par levels, corked wines, wastages and comps
• Review and analyze sales to ensure stock rotation and profitability remains within targets
• Ensure the wine list is up to date at all times with correct vintages
• Handle requests, enquiries and complains regarding wine, and take appropriate action
• Monitor and manage all glassware to ensure that all stock is maintained in an appropriate condition
• Participate in planning and developing the overall restaurants wines marketing strategy in liaison with other departments
• Assist with keeping operating costs to a minimum by efficient and responsible use of resources such as glassware and other equipment

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in same or similar role in luxury hotels or fine dining restaurant
• Internationally recognized professional certification
• Excellent level of English, written and spoken
• Ability to recommend food and wine pairings
• Have strong organisational and time management skills with a high degree of flexibility
• Excellent team management, communication and listening skills
• Demonstrate integrity in all dealings and maintain high level of confidentiality
• Be a self-motivator and someone who is ready to challenge in the interest of continuous improvement
• Ability to work long shifts and stand for the extended period of time
