Job summary

The Arts Club Dubai, located in DIFC, seeks an experienced Sommelier to ensure smooth wine and sake service for members and guests. You will help with selections, maintain cellar standards, and uphold the club’s high service standards during dining experiences.

We require at least 2 years in luxury dining, an internationally recognized wine certification, and excellent English. Strong organizational skills, integrity, and the ability to work long shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in luxury hotels or fine dining.
• Internationally recognized professional certification.
• Excellent level of English, written and spoken.
• Ability to recommend food and wine/sake pairings.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.

• Able to work long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist members and guests with wine/sake selections.
• Serve wines/sake according to the SOPs, with courteous service.
• Ensure wine/sake lists are up to date with vintages and prices.
• Keep mise-en-place and stock levels, proper temperatures.
• Monitor glassware and maintain stock in good condition.
• Display professional salesmanship and customer care at all times.

The Sommelier will be responsible for ensuring a smooth running of service for the wine and sake department, and focusing on delivering the maximum members and guests’ satisfaction during dining experience, while taking care that the Club’s highest standards and procedures are adhered to at all times.

What Will You Do

• Assist members and guests with their wine or sake selection, and serve wines/sake according to the Standard Operating
• Procedures, while providing friendly, courteous and professional service
• Ensure the wine and sake lists are up to date with correct vintages and prices, and that all products are stored properly in the cellar and on display
• Ensure mise-en-place and correct stock levels are in place before each service, and wines and sake are kept and served a the correct temperature
• Assist with monitoring and managing all glassware to ensure that all stock is maintained in an appropriate condition
• Keep operating costs to a minimum by efficient and responsible use of resources such as glassware and other equipment
• Display professional salesmanship and positive sales techniques at all times

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in same or similar role in luxury hotels or fine dining restaurant
• Internationally recognized professional certification
• Excellent level of English, written and spoken
• Ability to recommend food and wine/sake pairings
• Have strong organisational and time management skills with a high degree of flexibility
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Demonstrate integrity in all dealings and maintain high level of confidentiality
• Ability to work long shifts and stand for the extended period of time
