Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer for a major roads project in the UAE. The role oversees staff, ensures plans and specifications are followed, and administers staking, testing, and inspections to drive timely, safe, and quality construction.

The successful candidate will manage a team of Engineers, Inspectors, and Surveyors, coordinate with authorities, review submittals, and drive progress while maintaining project KPIs and safety compliance on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, including roads, bridges, underpasses, metro and rail.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure development, construction methodologies, and quality control processes.
• Excellent project management skills, including budget and schedule management.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall delivery of assigned infrastructure packages, ensuring project objectives related to time, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability are achieved.
• Supervise and control contractors works to ensure full compliance with approved IFC drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, and agreed milestones.
• Manage and direct the supervision team (Resident Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors), ensuring effective daily site inspections and consistent application of quality and safety standards.
• Maintain a high level of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) awareness, ensuring contractors compliance with approved HSE plans, risk assessments, and local regulations.
• Proactively identify, resolve, and alleviate technical, construction, and site-related issues to avoid delays and cost impacts.
• Represent AECOM in client, authority, and coordination meetings; prepare and present progress reports, key risks, and mitigation measures.
• Review contractors construction programs, method statements, shop drawings, technical submittals, and material approvals, providing timely recommendations.
• Monitor project progress against the approved baseline program and recommend recovery actions where slippage is identified.
• Manage and negotiate variations, scope changes, and claims, providing technical input and recommendations to the client and commercial team.
