Job summary

AECOM seeks an experienced Resident Engineer in Dubai, UAE to oversee construction and supervision of major roads, bridges and underpasses. You will ensure works meet plans, specs and contractual requirements through site supervision, testing, and contract administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 20 years of infrastructure engineering experience, with large-scale roads/bridges exposure.
• Previous experience with RTA projects preferred.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure development, construction methodologies and quality control.
• Demonstrated project management including budget and schedule.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to work on-site and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction programmes and progress reports.
• Verify compliance with the Contract Documents.
• Inspect workmanship and materials for conformance with project requirements.
• Coordinate vertical and horizontal controls required for the works.
• Perform layout checks covering lines and grades.
• Coordinate construction activities with relevant project parties.
• Maintain project records using designated forms, including reports covering workforce, equipment, progress and safety.
• Review and approve shop drawings within the responsibilities of the role.
• Coordinate, execute and interpret soils and materials testing in accordance with Contract Documents and Specifications.
• Review and approve final materials submittals.
• Check and certify construction progress payments.
• Review personnel, equipment and material costs associated with Variation Orders and Change Orders.
• Assess requests for additional compensation and extensions of time.
• Prepare Variation Orders covering additional and new works.
• Prepare the Monthly Report.
• Monitor site safety activities, meetings, reviews, violations, corrective measures and accident reporting for inclusion in the Monthly Progress Report.
• Determine appropriate costs for additions or credits when required and recommend suitable action.
• Inspect site safety conditions, communicate construction safety violations and follow up on required corrective actions.
