Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified Project Engineer to support the Project Manager in various tasks such as managing project activities, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring adherence to project schedules. The ideal candidate should possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have over 15 years of experience, with substantial time spent in the UAE or Middle East. Strong communication and project management skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience, with 5 years in UAE or Middle East.
  • At least 3 years as Project Engineer on medium to large scale projects.
  • Experience in HSE compliance and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Manager in various management activities.
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of Project Execution Plan.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors on technical and contractual issues.
  • Ensure timely execution according to schedule and contractual terms.

Job Description
Overall responsibilities :
  • Provide day to day support to Project Manager in various Project Management activities. Liaise with main contractor and end user PMT personnel and act as a focal point for Project Management issues.
  • Identify and resolve Project’s technical issues, coordinate with engineering consultant, and establish the bridge between Project team, external suppliers, subcontractors and client / end user focal personnel.
  • Manage and coordinate project daily activities.
Day to day responsibilities :
  • Assists in preparation, updating & implementation of Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Attends weekly, monthly, and other progress review meetings (internal as well as with client) and assists in preparation of Minutes of Meeting. Follow up on MOM and incorporate agreed comments with client and coordinate to close out ongoing concerns raised by client during the review meetings.
  • Coordinate to provide support to subcontractors in technical and contractual issues by facilitating them to meet and resolve key issues face to face.
  • Ensure project execution as per schedule and in accordance with contractual terms and client technical procedures.
  • Coordination with all project management team and team leaders for planning, scheduling and execution of Work for Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning to meet overall project objectives.
  • Coordinate with Engineering consultant to ensure that design basis is clearly communicated within the teams and relevant MR’s are timely issued to Procurement Department. Resolve key issues between Engineering, Procurement to for timely issuance of Purchase Orders for long lead and critical purchases for Project.
  • Provide support to Project Managerin implementation of Project procedures and gathers list of deliverables.
  • Participate in preparation of high-level scope of work for Subcontracts and facilitate to ensure that there is no scope creep.
  • Ensure that technical, schedule, risk, commercial and other adequate evaluations of the Project are performed with the participation of qualified personnel during the sessions (internal and external, if required), that all resulting actions are pursued and resolved, and documents are updated.
  • Explore and develop new tools and management techniques for successfully delivery of Project.
  • Ensure Project mobilizations and resource requirements are in accordance with Project mobilization requirements.
  • Ensure team members have a clear understanding of the overall strategy and ongoing priorities of the Project.
  • Support project teams in variation claims, EOT and support in preparation of contractual position.
  • Support Project Contracts, Cost & Subcontracts Team in evaluation and identifying any design deviations / variation arising from Subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with Engineering consultant and provide support to project construction for timely issuance of IFC drawings for start of construction activities and facilitate to resolve key Engineering issues raised by construction.
  • Identify restraints for Construction and facilitate Construction team in close out of obstacles in execution of Works.
  • Coordinate with Procurement to identify and ensure timely delivery of material at site and facilitate any obstacles and key issues between suppliers / client / Engineering consultant / Procurement.
  • Ensure Project milestones are on track and coordinate with Project Control to identify potential problems which will delay achieving Project milestones.
  • Provide support to commissioning in timely start of commissioning activities and facilitate them to resolve key issues in smooth start up commissioning activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation).
  • Affinity and familiar with Engineering, Procurement and Contracting aspects in the business in power and infrastructure projects.
Experience Requirements :
  • Experience level : 15years
  • 05years or more experience UAE or Middle East
  • Minimum 03years as Project Engineer on medium to large scale projects in similar business or industry
  • HSE compliance and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Skills & Professional Requirements :
  • Proven project management experience as well as a good understanding of business issues.
  • Good level of experience in the related field, industry, and locations of the work in UAE with customers.
  • Have worked as a Project Engineer on the electrical & instrumentation projects.
  • Knowledge of commercial and contract conditions applicable to the procurement of various types of goods and services.
  • Good knowledge and experience in project monitoring and forecasting
  • Ability to manage change control process on project with subcontractors and interfaces (if any).
  • In-depth knowledge of all types of project information (deliverables) and its uses and capable of managing information management project team
  • Good knowledge of all handover and close-out activities required for client, and suppliers.
