Job summary

Hill International is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer/Project Controls specialist in Abu Dhabi to lead schedule review, monitoring, and reporting across major construction projects. You will ensure manpower and equipment align with baselines and recovery plans, reporting findings to senior management.

Responsibilities include site visits, progress meeting participation, and preparing progress and executive presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• PMP certification is preferred.
• 12–15 years of planning experience on similar projects.
• Fully conversant with Primavera and MS Project, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Review Baseline Schedule and report to Controls Manager.
• Monitor contractor progress against approved schedules and report shortages.
• Review recovery schedules and adjust manpower accordingly.
• Visit project sites to verify progress aligns with milestones and report deficiencies.
• Review daily/weekly/monthly contractor reports and report any deficiencies.
• Assess time-impact claims and report assessments to Controls Manager.
• Review field design changes and assess time impact if any.
• Advise Construction Manager of foreseen slippage and corrective actions.
• Attend weekly progress meetings and monthly executive meetings; assist with agendas.
• Assist Controls Managers with Monthly Progress reports and Monthly Executive Presentations.
• Review commissioning plans for compliance with Baseline schedule.
• Review Close-Out Reports with PMC staff.

Job description

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

• Review/comment the Baseline Schedule and other schedules and report to the Controls Manager.
• Review and continuously monitor against approved schedules the Contractors major construction progress and ensure equipment and manpower are adequate or in case of any shortage report to Controls Manager.
• Review in detail the recovery schedules as submitted by the CONTRACTORS and ensure manpower and site supervision staff are increased properly.
• Regular visits to project sites to validate whether the progress of work on SITE is in compliance with approved schedules major milestones have been met and report deficiencies to Construction Manager.
• Review all daily weekly and monthly reports as submitted by CONTRACTOR and report to Controls Manager any deficiency or non-compliance.
• Review any claim involving time impact as submitted by the CONTRACTOR and report his assessment to Controls Manager.
• Review field design changes and Trend Notices and assess time impact if any.
• Advise the Construction Manager of any foreseen slippage of progress and corrective actions to be taken.
• Attend weekly progress meeting and monthly Executive meetings and participate in preparing the agenda.
• Assist Controls Managers during the preparation of Monthly Progress reports and Monthly Executive Presentations.
• Reviews the commissioning plans as submitted by the CONTRACTOR and ensures its compliance with the approved Baseline schedule.
• Participate with PMC staff in reviewing the Close-Out Reports as submitted by the CONTRACTOR.

Qualifications Experience Knowledge and Skills:

• Should be qualified Engineer BSc or higher.
• Relevant certifications such as PMP is prefereed.
• A qualified Engineer with a minimum of 12 to 15 years experience Planning works in similar Projects.
• Must be fully conversant with Primavera Microsoft Project PowerPoint etc.
